GADSDEN, Ala. (May 12, 2008) - Boater Terry Tucker of Gadsden, Ala., won the Bass Fishing League Bama Division bass fishing tournament on Neely Henry Lake Saturday with a five-bass catch weighing 13 pounds, 13 ounces. The victory earned Tucker $2,986 plus a $527 Ranger contingency bonus and placed him one step closer to qualifying for the Lake Murray Regional Championship in Columbia, S.C., Oct. 23-25, where he could ultimately win a new 198VX Ranger boat and a Chevy truck.
"I caught my fish on a PJ's jig using a Prowler skinny chunk and Prowler finesse worm," Tucker said. "I was fishing the mid lake in 2 to 4 feet of water."
Rounding out the top five boaters are William Bearden of Ashville, Ala. (five bass, 13-06, $1,757); J. Larry Nunnally of Gadsden, Ala. (five bass, 13-00, $1,172); David Bearden of Ashville, N.C. (five bass, 11-13, $820) and Wayne Isaac of Cartersville, Ga. (five bass, 11-12, $703).
Bearden took home the Boater Division Big Bass award, earning $450 for a 5-pound, 2-ounce bass he caught on a spinnerbait.
Gregg Diggs of Glencoe, Ala., earned $1,757 as the co-angler winner Saturday thanks to five bass weighing 10 pounds, 3 ounces.
Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Lance Hounshell of Lexington, Ind. (five bass, 10-00, $879); David Marr of Cleveland, Tenn. (five bass, 9-01, $585); Jason Twilley of Quinton, Ala. (four bass, 8-12, $410) and Dean McDonald of Greer, S.C. (five bass, 7-14, $351).
Twilley earned $225 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 3-pound, 13-ounce.
The division's fourth qualifying event will be held on Logan Martin Lake in Pell City, Ala., June 14. A two-day Super Tournament, the division's fifth and final event, will be held on Wheeler Lake in Decatur, Ala., Sept. 27-28.
