Logan Wins Bass Fishing League Tournament on Lake Neely Henry

GADSDEN, Ala. (July 2, 2012) – Wes Logan of Springville, Ala., weighed a five-bass limit totaling 15 pounds, 1 ounce Saturday to win the Bass Fishing League Bama Division tournament on Lake Neely Henry. For his victory, Logan earned $3,632.

    

“I knew it was going to be a good day when I got a 3 ½-pounder on my third flip,” said Logan. “I was catching fish all day long and probably caught 20 to 30 fish. I was targeting shallow grass about 30 miles down from the locks.

“I was flipping home-made jigs,” Logan continued. “I was keying in on the edges of points, and it seemed like the dirtier the water the better.”

Rounding out the top 10 boaters were:

2nd:      Thomas Helton, Charleston, Tenn., five bass, 14-14, $1,816

3rd:      Josh Bragg, Jacksonville, Ala., five bass, 13-15, $1,210

4th:       Jeff Knight, Cleveland, Tenn., five bass, 13-10, $786

4th:       Tim Miller, Pell City, Ala., five bass, 13-10, $786

6th:       James Harrison, Anniston, Ala., five bass, 13-9, $635

6th:       Bradley Jones, Silver Creek, Ga., five bass, 13-9, $635

8th:       Jason Nixon, Wetumpka, Ala., five bass, 13-8, $514

8th:       Kenny Pannell, Springville, Ala., five bass, 13-8, $514

10th:    Kyle Dorsett, Odenville, Ala., five bass, 13-4, $424

Robert Huffine of Maryville, Tenn., weighed four bass totaling 15 pounds, 1 ounce Saturday to win $1,816 in the co-angler division.

Rounding out the top 10 co-anglers were:

            3rd:    Ferlin Weeks, Trinity, Ala., five bass, 13-6, $606

            4th:    Matt Lipscomb, Springville, Ala., five bass, 12-13, $424

            5th:    Keith Fields, Austell, Ga., five bass, 12-12, $363

            6th:    Danny Mosley, Collinsville, Miss., five bass, 11-12, $333

            7th:    Ralph Moseley, Panama, Fla., five bass, 11-4, $303

            8th:    Michael Roush, Mobile, Ala., four bass, 10-11, $272

            9th:    Lee McClendon Jr., Trussville, Ala., five bass, 10-10, $242

            10th: Larry Sharpe, Lanett, Ala., five bass, 9-12, $212

                   

The next BFL Bama Division tournament is scheduled for Sept. 8-9 on Pickwick Lake in Florence, Ala. After the fifth Bama Division tournament is complete, the top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers based on point standings will qualify for the Oct. 4-6 Regional Championship on Lake Seminole in Bainbridge, Ga. Boaters will compete for a top award of a Ranger Z518 with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard and a Chevy Silverado, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger Z518 with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard.
