Lehew Wins Bass Fishing League Tournament On Lake Norman

TERRELL, N.C. (Feb. 24, 2014) – Larry Lehew of Charlotte, N.C., weighed a five-bass limit totaling 19 pounds, 3 ounces Saturday to win the Bass Fishing League North Carolina Division tournament on Lake Norman. For his victory, Lehew earned $7,096.  Rounding out the top 10 pros were:

         2nd:   Shane Lehew, Charlotte, N.C., five bass, 17-10, $2,398 + $300 Evinrude Bonus

            3rd:   Alfred Kiesling Sr., Mooresville, N.C., five bass, 16-0, $1,595

            4th:    Wes Lewis, Concord, N.C., five bass, 15-9, $1,119

            5th:    Bryan Thrift, Shelby, N.C., five bass, 15-6, $959

            6th:    Michael Stephens, Gastonia, N.C., five bass, 14-12, $879

            7th:    Scott Hamrick, Denver, N.C., five bass, 14-7, $799

            8th:    Hiroyuki Watanabe, Shizuoka, Japan, five bass, 14-4, $719

            9th:    Michael Fox, Statesville, N.C., five bass, 13-13, $639

            10th:  Reginald Pickett, Greensboro, N.C., five bass, 13-10, $560

    Shorty Vaow of Cornelius, N.C., weighed in a five-bass limit totaling 13 pounds, 12 ounces Saturday to win $2,398 in the co-angler division.  Rounding out the top 10 co-anglers were:

            3rd:   Tim Cales, Sandstone, W. Va., five bass, 11-10, $795

            4th:    Ricky Byrd, Independence, Va., five bass, 11-1, $560

            5th:    Joel Cerv, North Wilkesboro, N.C., five bass, 10-13, $480

            6th:    Chris Myatt, Vornelius, N.C., five bass, 10-9, $440

            7th:    Andrew Shundich, Mooresville , N.C., five bass, 10-8, $400

            8th:    Chris Graham, Catawba, N.C., five bass, 10-2, $360

            9th:    Dale Webber, Kernersville, N.C., five bass, 9-15, $320

            10th: Dakota Lineberger, Mooresville, N.C., five bass, 9-5, $280

The top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers based on point standings will qualify for the Oct. 9-11 Regional Championship on Lake Cherokee in Morristown, Tenn. Boaters will compete for a top award of a Ranger Z518C with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard and a Chevy Silverado, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger Z518C with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard.
