BUCKHEAD, Ga. (April 21, 2008) - Boater Terry Adams of McDonough, Ga., won the Bass Fishing League Bulldog Division bass fishing tournament on Lake Oconee Saturday with a five-bass catch weighing 17 pounds, 11 ounces. The victory earned Adams $4,471 and placed him one step closer to qualifying for the Lake Murray Regional Championship in Columbia, S.C., Oct. 23-25, where he could ultimately win a new 198VX Ranger boat and a Chevy truck. Adams caught his fish around Richland Creek by fishing around shad and casting a ¼-ounce white spinnerbait.
Rounding out the top five boaters are Jim Windham of Bonaire, Ga. (five bass, 17-4, $2,631); Kip Carter of Loganville, Ga. (five bass, 15-14, $1,753); Nathan Fuller of Hillsboro, Ga. (five bass, 15-5, $1,228) and David Millsaps of Ranger, Ga. (five bass, 14-14, $1,052).
Doug Whitfield of Doraville, Ga., took home the Boater Division Big Bass award, earning $820 for a 6-pound, 6-ounce bass he caught on a spinnerbait.
Trae Renfroe of Milledgeville, Ga., earned $2,631 as the co-angler winner Saturday thanks to four bass weighing 13 pounds, 2 ounces that he caught fishing a crankbait in pockets around Richland Creek.
Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Chris Stokes of Hoboken, Ga. (five bass, 11-7, $1,315); Chris Eysel of Columbus, Ga. (five bass, 10-7, $877); Ryan Lamb of Lilburn, Ga. (five bass, 10-6, $614) and Shane Byrom of Newnan, Ga. (three bass, 10-01, $526).
Don Griffin of Roswell, Ga., earned $410 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 7-pound, 5-ounce bass on a trick worm.
Bulldog Division anglers will visit West Point Lake in Lanett, Ala., May 17 for their fourth regular-season event. A two-day Super Tournament, the division's fifth and final event, will be held on Lake Eufaula in Eufaula, Ala., Sept. 13-14.
