MAYSVILLE, Ky. (July 21, 2014) – Tim Partin of Springboro, Ohio, weighed a five-bass limit totaling 8 pounds, 5 ounces Saturday to win the Bass Fishing League Buckeye Division tournament on the Ohio River at Maysville. For his victory, Partin earned $6,879.

“I’m pretty happy,” said Partin, who earned his first BFL win in 11 years of competition. “It worked out really nice.

“It started in practice on Friday,” explained Partin. “I found some fish in a backwater pretty early and made a commitment to spend basically the entire day there on Saturday.”

Partin said that he mined one backwater for his winning limit and threw two different creature baits on a Texas rig with a 1/4-ounce weight.

“I fished rock in three to six feet,” said Partin. “I also fished brush piles in anywhere from one to two feet of water. There were kind of two different patterns going on in one area. There was some current, but I don’t think it had a big impact on the bite. I caught fish pretty steadily until noon.

“I didn’t think I would win,” finished Partin. “I felt like I had enough weight for a top-five. When I weighed in and the tournament director told me I had the only limit he had seen so far, I was shocked.”
