Booher Wins Bass Fishing League Tournament on the Ohio River

GOLCONDA, Ill. (Sept. 8, 2008) - Boater Herbie Booher of West Paducah, Ky., won the Bass Fishing League Illini Division Super Bass Fishing Tournament on the Ohio River with a two-day catch of nine bass weighing 24 pounds, 8 ounces. The victory earned Booher $3,913.

   Booher said he fished barge tie ups on the Tennessee River and caught his fish on a black and red tube.

   Rounding out the top five boaters are Rick Byrnes of Tamaroa, Ill. (10 bass, 24-06, $2,302); Bobby McMullin of Pevely, Mo. (10 bass, 22-05, $1,536); Bill Walker of Mulkeytown, Ill. (10 bass, 20-14, $1,074) and Matt Wolfe of Collinsville, Ill. (10 bass, 20-04, $921).

   Booher took home the Boater Division Snickers Big Bass award, earning $540 for a 6-pound, 8-ounce bass that he caught.

   Timothy Lane of Momence, Ill., earned $2,302 as the co-angler winner thanks to eight bass weighing 17 pounds, 11 ounces that he caught on a Spro crankbait near stumps in the creeks and main river.

   Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Christopher Cunningham of Green Valley, Ill. (seven bass, 17-01, $1,151); Gary Bettis of Olney, Ill. (nine bass, 16-07, $767); Bradley Smith of St. Jacob, Ill. (10 bass, 15-07, $537) and James Schubert of Mount Vernon, Ill. (nine bass, 13-15, $460).

   Cunningham earned $270 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 4-pound, 9-ounce bass on a creature bait.
