Tell City, Ind. (Sept. 08, 2008) - Boater Marty Sisk of Evansville, Ind., won the Bass Fishing League Hoosier Division Super Bass Fishing Tournament on the Ohio River with a two-day catch of nine bass weighing 16 pounds, 3 ounces. The victory earned Sisk $3,967. With the win, Sisk slipped into the Cherokee Lake Regional Championship in Morristown, Tenn., Oct. 16-18. Sisk locked up the 39th slot - out of 40 - in the championship.
Evans said he caught fish on a black and red soft plastic frog and other topwater baits as well as a spinnerbait in Tar Creek.
Rounding out the top five boaters are Scott Bateman of Washington, Ind. (eight bass, 14-11, $2,334); Tom Forrester of Bloomington, Ind. (eight bass, 14-00, $1,557); Dick Shaffer of Rockford, Ohio (seven bass, 11-07, $1,089) and Travis Edgar of North Webster, Ind. (six bass, 11-01, $934).
Bateman took home the Boater Division Snickers Big Bass award, earning $547 for a 4-pound, 10-ounce bass that he caught on a soft plastic crawdad flipping wood laydowns in Oil Creek.
Wendell Smith of Greenfield, Ind., earned $2,334 as the co-angler winner thanks to five bass weighing 8 pounds, 12 ounces that he caught on a soft plastic worm fished around grass in Deer Creek.
Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Kevin Napier of Hawesville, Ky. (four bass, 7-08, $1,167); Tim Burke of Petersburg, Ky. (four bass, 6-15, $779); Terry Knies of New Albany, Ind. (four bass, 6-14, $545) and Charlie Baldwin of Bunker Hill, Ind. (six bass, 6-10, $467).
Kevin Alvey of Taylorsville, Ky., earned $274 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 3-pound bass on a chatter-type bait.
