GALLATIN, Tenn. (March 31, 2008) - Boater Drew Boggs of Lebanon, Tenn., won the Bass Fishing League Music City Division bass fishing tournament on Old Hickory Lake Saturday with a five-bass catch weighing 21 pounds, 2 ounces. The victory earned Boggs $3,329 and placed him one step closer to qualifying for the Wheeler Lake Regional Championship in Decatur, Ala., Oct. 9-11, where he could ultimately win a new 198VX Ranger boat and a Chevy truck.
Boggs caught his bass flipping a jig and throwing a Rat-L-Trap in creeks.
Rounding out the top five boaters are Donnie Rubel of Murfreesboro, Tenn. (five bass, 18-02, $1,958); T Wolfe of Lexington, Tenn. (five bass, 16-14, $1,307); Pat Hatcliff of Murfreesboro, Tenn. (five bass, 15-15, $914) and Ashley Hayes of Rockvale, Tenn. (five bass, 14-04, $783).
Boggs took home the Boater Division Snickers Big Bass award, earning $520 for a 7-pound, 7-ounce bass he caught flipping a black and blue jig.
Charles Wheeler of Lexington, Tenn., earned $1,958 as the co-angler winner Saturday thanks to five bass weighing 14 pounds, 11 ounces fishing flats throwing a Rat-L-Trap.
Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Richard Kee of Denmark, Tenn. (five bass, 12-09, $979); Bryant Sage of Murfreesboro, Tenn. (four bass, 9-14, $653); Jacob Dickerson of Cookeville, Tenn. (two bass, 9-12, $457) and Greg Watkins of Lebanon, Tenn. (four bass, 9-10, $392).
Wesley Carter of Collierville, Tenn., earned $202 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 8-pound, 11-ounce bass he caught on a chrome blue Rat-L-Trap.
