SMYRNA, Tenn. (March 11, 2013) – Scott Lefevers of Hermitage, Tenn., weighed a five-bass limit totaling 15 pounds, 2 ounces Saturday to win the Bass Fishing League Music City Division tournament on Percy Priest Lake. For his victory, Lefevers earned $2,499.
“I caught close to 30 fish throughout the day and started culling shortly after 8 a.m.,” said Lefevers. “Most of my fish came on an Umbrella rig tipped with Berkley Hollow Belly swimbaits. The fish were suspended over a sunken tree in approximately 15 to 18 feet of water.
“Most of the fish came off this tree but there were a few others that I caught on a different spot with a deep-diving crankbait,” Lefevers continued. “I think the key to my victory was that I was fishing a little bit deeper than everyone else. I thought that I had enough weight to do well, but I definitely didn’t think that I would win. It was very surprising.”
