BROOKELAND, Texas (Sept. 8, 2014) – Kevin Lasyone of Dry Prong, La., weighed a two-day total of 10 bass totaling 36 pounds, 11 ounces to win the Bass Fishing League Cowboy Division super tournament on Sam Rayburn Reservoir Sunday. For his victory, Lasyone earned $5,997.

“It was tough, really tough,” said Lasyone, who has earned more than $175,000 in FLW competition. “I’ve finished in the top-10 in just about every tournament FLW runs, but this is my first win.

“I started out on Saturday fishing grass and pads with a ½-ounce V&M jig, then later I threw a V&M worm on the outside edges of the grass,” Lasyone said. “I caught a 5-pounder off of a shallow point at the end of the day, so I decided to start there on Sunday.”

Lasyone said that his key point produced again, and by 9 a.m. he had landed the entirety of his 23 pound, 4 ounce day-two stringer. He said the point had a mix of several types of grass and some bream beds on it. He caught most of his fish in five feet of water with a Blue Flex-colored 8½-inch V&M Wild Thang Worm.

“I promise you, I sat down and sang “Amazing Grace” in the boat after I caught my fish in the morning,” said Lasyone. “Todd Castledine, who was in first place, was the only guy I was worried about. I felt pretty sure I had the rest of the guys beat.”
