Chambley Wins Bass Fishing League Tournament on the Ross Barnett Reservoir

BRANDON, Miss. (Sept. 14, 2009) - Brian Chambley of Brandon, Miss., won the Bass Fishing League final Mississippi Division bass fishing tournament of the season on the Ross Barnett Reservoir Sunday with 10 bass weighing 27 pounds, 1 ounce. The victory earned Chambley $5,874. Anglers were competing to qualify for the Kentucky Lake Regional Championship in Gilbertsville, Ky., Oct. 15-17, where they could ultimately win a new Ranger boat and a Chevy truck.

 "I worked my tail off for it," said Chambley. "I fish a lot of tournaments on this reservoir and I live on the reservoir ... I'm just excited to get this win."

 Chambley said he fished 16 to 20 feet deep using a crankbait and swimbait to catch his limits.

 Rounding out the top five boaters are Brad McCulley of Courtland, Miss. (10 bass, 27-0, $2,937); Shannon Denson of Brandon, Miss. (10 bass, 25-14, $1,957); Keith Shelton of Brandon, Miss. (10 bass, 22-14, $1,371) and Jimmy Carruth of Brandon, Miss. (10 bass, 22-13, $1,175).

 Webb Collums of Jackson, Miss., took home the Boater Division Folgers Big Bass award, earning $780 for a 5-pound, 13-ounce bass he caught.

 Mark Sullivan of Collinsville, Miss., earned $2,937 as the co-angler winner Sunday thanks to eight bass weighing 25 pounds, 10 ounces that he caught on a plastic frog.

 Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Jason Ezell of Lucedale, Miss. (10 bass, 22-1, $1,468); Scott Sullins of Laurel, Miss. (nine bass, 15-7, $979); Anthony Acy of Pelahatchie, Miss. (seven bass, 14-2, $685); and Jeff Hill of Biloxi, Miss. (five bass, 13-14, $587).

 Sullivan earned $390 as the co-angler Folgers Big Bass winner after catching a 5-pound, 11-ounce bass.
