BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (Oct. 29, 2007) - Boater Allan Cagle of Deltona, Fla., earned a fully rigged Ranger 198VX and a new Chevy truck Saturday as the winner of the Bass Fishing League Regional Championship on the Lake Seminole in Bainbridge, Ga. The top 40 boaters and the top 40 co-anglers from the Bulldog, Dixie, Everglades and Savannah River divisions competed in the three-day event.
Cagle's winning three-day catch of 10 bass weighed 35 pounds, 9 ounces. In addition to the new truck and boat, Cagle earned a ticket to the 2008 $1 million Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League All-American presented on the Connecticut River in Hartford, Conn., May 29-31.
Cagle caught his winning bass by flipping a black and blue soft-plastic crawdad near the Spring Creek area. The top six boaters and the top six co-anglers at the regional championship earned a spot to compete in the All-American. Rounding out the top six boaters were Kim Carver of Milledgeville, Ga. (14 bass, 29-04, $4,000); Jesse Millsaps of Tate, Ga. (13 bass, 28-14, $2,000); Eddie Burgess of Greenwood, S.C. (eight bass, 27-12, $1,600); Tim Malcolm of Americus, Ga. (10 bass, 27-08, $1,200); and Steven Fikes of Northport, Ala. (nine bass, 26-14, $1,000).
Christopher Brummitt of College Park, Ga., earned a new Ranger boat as the co-angler winner, thanks to a three-day total of eight bass weighing 21 pounds, 12 ounces that he caught dragging a green pumpkin Zoom Mag II worm near grass edges. Rounding out the top six co-anglers were Billy Cain of Jackson, Ga. (six bass, 19-13, $2,000); Arthur Watson of Iva, S.C. (eight bass, 19-04, $1,000); Gerald Bunn of Mansfield, Ga. (five bass, 18-11, $800); Darren Jeter of Skyland, N.C. (10 bass, 15-15, $600); and Robert Volinic of Peachtree City, Ga. (seven bass, 15-12, $500).
