SHELBYVILLE, Ill. (Sept. 30, 2013) – Aaron McManaway of Altamont, Ill., weighed in a two-day total of seven bass totaling 20 pounds, 13 ounces Sunday to win the Bass Fishing League Illini Division Super Tournament on Lake Shelbyville. For his victory, McManaway earned $6,840.

McManaway kept an open mind and changed with the conditions to pick up his first BFL win since 2006 by nearly 3 pounds.

“I was fishing a shallow windblown pattern,” said McManaway. “I was basically chasing shad on shallow flats.

“It worked pretty good on Saturday because we had low pressure and a little bit of cloud cover, but I knew Sunday I was probably in trouble,” continued McManaway.

“Everybody struggled on Sunday,” said McManaway. “I’m lucky I had what I had. I had to go a little deeper on Sunday; they backed off and set up on some deeper cover. I didn’t catch much, but I caught enough.

“Fishing the conditions was the key to winning,” finished McManaway. “I just went with my gut and it worked.”

McManaway said he fished a Spro Aruku Shad in less than 3 feet of water on the first day and flipped a Berkley Chigger Craw in 6 feet of water on the second day.  Rounding out the top 10 pros were:
