Cox Wins Bass Fishing League Tournament on Lake Texoma

DENISON, Texas (Oct. 6, 2008) - Boater John Cox of Cedar Creek, Texas, won the Bass Fishing League Cowboy Division Super Bass Fishing Tournament on Lake Texoma with a two-day catch of 10 bass weighing 24 pounds, 12 ounces. The victory earned Cox $3,627 plus a $640 Ranger bonus.

   Cox said he caught his fish on a crankbait and jig around shallow rocks on the south end of the lake.

   Rounding out the top five boaters are Mike Arnold of China Spring, Texas (10 bass, 24-11, $2,134); Dan Wilson of Pilot Point, Texas (10 bass, 23-12, $1,423); Jacky Hawthorne of Greenville, Texas (10 bass, 23-01, $996) and Branden Hollingshead of Fort Worth, Texas (10 bass, 23-00, $854).

   Arnold and Hawthorne split the Boater Division Snickers Big Bass award, each earning $243.50 for a pair of 4-pound, 2-ounce bass. Cody Cox of Cedar Creek, Texas, earned $1,911 as the co-angler winner thanks to eight bass weighing 15 pounds, 9 ounces that he caught fishing a crankbait and jig around rocks.

   Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Johnny Matthews of Cleburne, Texas (five bass, 15-07, $955); Jay Moore of Frisco, Texas (six bass, 15-06, $637); Lynn Roller of Fort Worth, Texas (four bass, 15-04, $446) and Darin Comstock of Denison, Texas (five bass, 10-07, $382).

   Roller earned $199 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 5-pound, 11-ounce bass on a finesse worm.
