Carroll Wins Bass Fishing League Tournament on West Point Lake

LANETT, Ala. (April 27, 2009) - Kenny Carroll of Opelika, Ala., won the Bass Fishing League Dixie Division bass fishing tournament on West Point Lake Saturday with a five-bass catch weighing 22 pounds, 11 ounces. The victory earned Carroll $4,394 and placed him one step closer to qualifying for the Lake Seminole Regional Championship in Bainbridge, Ga., Oct. 22-24, where he could ultimately win a new Ranger boat and a Chevy truck.

   "It was a very fun day. Things sort of went as planned and that doesn't happen all the time," Carroll said. "I wasn't too comfortable though when I saw a friend that had a bag of 22 pounds."

   Carroll caught his limit sight-fishing throwing jigs and lizards.

   Rounding out the top five boaters are David Milsaps of Ranger, Ga. (five bass, 22-7, $2,197); Jamie Horton of Centerville, Ala. (five bass, 20-13, $1,464); Kip Carter of Loganville, Ga. (five bass, 20-12, $1,025) and Chris Ingram of Eclectic, Ala. (five bass, 16-7, $879).

   Danny Lavoie of Franklin, Ga., took home the Boater Division Big Bass award, earning $630 for a 6-pound, 10-ounce bass he caught.

   Anthony Goggins of Sylacauga, Ala., earned $2,197 as the co-angler winner Saturday thanks to five bass weighing 12 pounds, 11 ounces.

   Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Marcus Corbett of Anniston, Ala. (five bass, 9-9, $1,098); Rodney Graham of Childersburg, Ala. (three bass, 8-14, $733); Brian Martin of Moody, Ala. (five bass, 8-4, $513); and Don Ward of Midland, Ga. (five bass, 8-3, $439).

   Rodney Graham earned $315 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 7-pound, 4-ounce bass.

   The next Dixie Division event will be held on Lay Lake in Columbiana, Ala., May 9.
