Jones Wins Bass Fishing League Tournament on Lake Wylie

LAKE WYLIE, S.C. (Sept. 29, 2008) - Boater Parks Jones, Jr. of York, S.C., won the Bass Fishing League South Carolina Division Super Bass Fishing Tournament on Lake Wylie with a two-day catch of nine bass weighing 11 pounds, 7 ounces. The victory earned Jones $4,518.

   Jones fished in the mid-lake area targeting humps and using worms and crank baits to target his catch.

   Rounding out the top five boaters are Jason Quinn of York, S.C. (10 bass, 25-15, $2,658); Andy Montgomery of Blacksburg, S.C. (eight bass, 22-08, $1,774); Matt Arey of Shelby, N.C. (10 bass, 22-07, $1,240) and Scott Hamrick of Denver, N.C. (10 bass, 20-12, $1,063).

   John Weise of Charlotte, N.C., took home the Boater Division Snickers Big Bass award, earning $667 for a 5-pound, 1-ounce bass that he caught on a white Zara spook fishing docks and rocks.

   Greg Clayton of York, S.C., earned $2,658 as the co-angler winner thanks to six bass weighing 12 pounds, 4 ounces that he caught while fishing a topwater worm targeting points and rocks mid-lake.

   Rounding out the top five co-anglers are John Cook of Matthews, N.C. (three bass, 11-01, $1,329); Bryan New of Belmont, N.C. (five bass, 10-10, $886); Scott Peavy of Ridgeway, S.C. (four bass, 10-09, $620) and Kenneth Morrison of Waxhaw, N.C. (four bass, 9-11, $532).

   John Cook of Matthews, N.C., earned $334 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 5-pound, 10-ounce bass throwing a jig targeting points and rocks.
