GLASGOW, Ky. (Sept. 17, 2007) - Boater Brett Coffey of Scottsville, Ky., won the Bass Fishing League Mountain Division Super Bass Fishing Tournament on the Barren River with a two-day catch of 10 bass weighing 28 pounds, 15 ounces. The victory earned Coffey $4,689 and placed him one step closer to qualifying for the Kentucky Lake Regional Championship in Gilbertsville, Ky., Oct. 18-20, where he could ultimately win a new 519VX Ranger boat and a Chevy truck.
Coffey caught his bass throwing a jig on main lake points.
Rounding out the top five boaters are Gary Morrison of Scottsville, Ky. (10 bass, 27-10, $2,759); Kevin Snider of Elizabethtown, Ky. (10 bass, 26-14, $1,839); Rex Huff of Corbin, Ky. (10 bass, 24-07, $1,287) and Richard Snowden of Berea, Ky. (nine bass, 23-15, $1,103).
Andy Greynolds of Liberty, Ky., took home the Boater Division Snickers Big Bass award, earning $720 for a 5-pound, 1-ounce bass that he caught on a frog in and around grass.
Mitch Lewis of Greensburg, Ky., earned $2,759 as the co-angler winner thanks to nine bass weighing 24 pounds, 4 ounces that he caught while fishing a jig near grass lines.
Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Lester Bullens of Berea, Ky. (eight bass, 21-03, $1,379); David Morris of Lancaster, Ky. (nine bass, 18-12, $919); Noah Griffith of Berea, Ky. (eight bass, 17-01, $644) and Ralph Feldman of Lancaster, Ky. (seven bass, 15-01, $552).
Glen Stateman of Springfield, Ky., earned $360 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 5-pound, 8-ounce bass that he caught throwing a Zoom green pumpkin Brush Hog near shallow weed lines.
