Golub Wins Bass Fishing Tournament on Lake Champlain

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (Sept. 24, 2007) - Day one of the Bass Fishing League Empire Division bass fishing tournament on Lake Champlain was canceled due to inclement weather. On day two of competition boater Ken Golub of Pittsford, Conn., won the Bass Fishing League Empire Division Super Tournament on Lake Champlain with a two-day catch of five bass weighing 21 pounds, 3 ounces. The victory earned Golub $4,944 plus a $872 Ranger contingency bonus and placed him one step closer to qualifying for the Potomac River Regional Championship in Marbury, Md., Oct. 11-13, where he could ultimately win a new 519VX Ranger boat and a Chevy truck.

   Golub caught his bass throwing a Senko in deep water.

   Rounding out the top five boaters are Alex Kolody of Webster, N.Y. (five bass, 18-00, $2,909); Richard Damianos of East Freetown, N.Y. (five bass, 17-07, $1,939); Thomas Lavictoire of West Rutland, Vt. (five bass, 17-06, $1,357) and Dennis Sikorski of Taftville, Conn. (five bass, 16-14, $1,163).

   Hugh Worth of Milford, N.H., took home the Boater Division Snickers Big Bass award, earning $772 for a 5-pound, 8-ounce bass. Kenneth Roderick Jr. of Putnam, Conn., earned $2,909 as the co-angler winner thanks to five bass weighing 14 pounds, 14 ounces that he caught while fishing a green pumpkin tube in and around grass.

   Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Rex Mogargle of Turbotville, Pa. (five bass, 13-10, $1,454); Jason Shipton of Muncy, Pa. (five bass, 13-06, $970); Thomas Prowant of Lewisburg, Pa. (five bass, 12-15, $679) and Al Volpini of Newfield, N.Y. (five bass, 12-14, $582).

   John Buries of Montoursville, Pa., earned $386 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 4-pound, 6-ounce bass.
