GALLATIN, Tenn. (May 7, 2007) - Boater Josh Tramel of Smithville, Tenn., won the Bass Fishing League Music City Division bass fishing tournament on Old Hickory Lake Saturday with a five-bass catch weighing 14 pounds, 9 ounces. The victory earned Tramel $3,233 and placed him one step closer to qualifying for the Fort-Loudoun Tellico Lakes Regional Championship in Lenoir City, Tenn., Oct. 18-20, where he could ultimately win a new 519VX Ranger boat and a Chevy truck.
Tramel caught his bass on a floating worm in pockets near Spring Creek.
Rounding out the top five boaters are Clarence Reed of Lafayette, Tenn. (five bass, 14-4, $1,902); David Gnewikow of Mount Juliet, Tenn. (five bass, 13-1, $1,267); Brent Sain of Manchester, Tenn. (five bass, 11-3., $888) and Jarrod Simon of Hendersonville, Tenn. (five bass, 11-1, $761).
Kenny Manning of Bethpage, Tenn., took home the Boater Division Big Bass award, earning $505 for a 4-pound, 11-ounce bass.
Rick Crouch of Tullahoma, Tenn., earned $1,902 as the co-angler winner Saturday thanks to five bass weighing 15 pounds, 12 ounces that he caught while fishing a black and blue jig.
Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Martin Creasy of Westmoreland, Tenn. (five bass, 11-13, $951); Andrew Bacon of Killen, Ala. (five bass, 11-0, $539); Vershun Tolliver of Smyrna, Tenn. (five bass, 11-0, $539) and Mike Twitty of Mount Juliet, Tenn. (five bass, 10-1, $380).
Mark Horton of Ashland City, Tenn., earned $252 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 6-pound, 6-ounce bass. The Music City Division's fourth event will be held June 9 on Kentucky and Barkley Lakes in Buchanan, Tenn., and the final event of the regular season will be a two-day Super Tournament held Sept. 15-16 on Old Hickory Lake in Gallatin.
