Robinson Wins Bass Fishing Tournament on Lake Keowee

SENECA, S.C. (Sept. 18, 2006) - Boater Boater Marty Robinson of Landrum, S.C., earned 300 points and $5,648 Sunday as the winner of the Bass Fishing League Savannah River Division Super Bass Tournament on Lake Keowee. He also earned a $1,500 Ranger Cup for a total of $6,648 in winnings.

   Robinson's winning catch of 10 bass weighed 21 pounds, 9 ounces came on topwater baits fished in shady areas on the north end of the lake.

   Rounding out the top five boaters are Brian Latimer of Belton, S.C. (10 bass, 21 pounds, 8 ounces, $2,824); Steve Harwood of Weaverville, N.C. (10 bass, 19 pounds, 8 ounces, $1,882); Greg Willimon of Pickens, S.C. (nine bass, 18 pounds, 14 ounces, $1,318) and Randy Childer of Anderson, S.C. (10 bass, 18 pounds, 11 ounces, $1,130).

   Richard Cantrell of Anderson, S.C., won the Boater Division Snickers Big Bass award with a 5-pound, 8-ounce bass that earning him $750. Bo Brice of Seneca, won the Co-angler Division and earned $2,824 thanks to 10 bass weighing 19 pounds, 2 ounces.

   Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Robbie McHone of Fountain Inn, S.C. (19 bass, 16 pounds, 4 ounces, $1,412); Douglas Bryson of Westminster, S.C. (seven bass, 12 pounds, 14 ounces, $940); Don Kohli of Lincolnton, Ga. (eight bass, 12 pounds, 11 ounces, $659); and John Hyatt of Leicester, N.C. (seven bass, 12pounds, 7 ounces, $565).

   Hyatt also earned $375 as the co-angler Snickers Big Bass winner with a 3-pound, 3-ounce bass.

   The top 40 LBL Division boaters and co-anglers based on year-end points standings will now advance to the no-entry-fee Kerr lake Regional Championship near Henderson, N.C., Oct. 12-14, where they will compete against Gator, Shenandoah and South Carolina Division anglers for a new Ranger boat and a Chevy truck in the Boater Division plus six slots in the no-entry-fee 2007 Wal-Mart BFL All-American.
