McDonald Wins Bass Fishing League Tournament on Lake Monroe

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (Aug. 28, 2006) - Boater Bill McDonald of Indianapolis, Ind., earned $4,315 Saturday as winner of the Bass Fishing League Hoosier Division bass fishing tournament on Lake Monroe. The tournament was the fourth of five regular-season Hoosier Division events and earned McDonald 200 points in the Boater Division.

   McDonald's winning catch of four bass weighed 17 pounds, 9 ounces. He was throwing a black and blue craw tube in shallow water to catch his bass.

   Rounding out the top five boaters are Ryan Deal of Haubstadt, Ind. (five bass, 13 pounds, 7 ounces, $2,157); Aaron Sisk of Evansville, Ind. (five bass, 13 pounds, $1,439); Kevin Allen of Middletown, Ind., (four bass, 11 pounds, 4 ounces, $1,007) and Kenneth Bortlein of West Harrison, Ind. (four bass, 11 pounds, 3 ounces, $863).

   Calvin Davidson of Plainfield, Ind won the Boater Division Big Bass award with a 6-pound, 8-ounce bass earning him $610.

   Dick Mauer of Hillsboro, Mo, won the Co-angler Division and earned $2,157 thanks to four bass weighing 8 pounds, 9 ounces.

   Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Scott Childers of Indianapolis, Ind. (four bass, 7 pounds, 12 ounces, $1,079); Kevin Alvey of Taylorsville, Ky. (three bass, 7 pounds, 9 ounces, $717); Doug Ruster of New Palestine, Ind. (three bass, 6 pounds, 3 ounces, $503); and John Fritz of Coal City, Ind. (three bass, 5 pounds, 13 ounces, $431).

   Steven Littrell of Avon, Ind., earned $305 as the co-angler Snickers Big Bass winner with a 4-pound, 9-ounce bass.

   The Hoosier Division's next event will take place on Lake Monroe again near Bloomington, Sept. 23-24 for their two-day Super Tournament, the division's fifth and final event.
