BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (May 21, 2007) - Boater Scott Spayd of Ferdinand, Ind., won the Bass Fishing League Hoosier Division bass fishing tournament on Lake Monroe Saturday with a five-bass catch weighing 16 pounds, 7 ounces. The victory earned Spayd $4,261 and placed him one step closer to qualifying for the Kentucky Lake Regional Championship in Gilbertsville, Ky., Oct. 18-20, where he could ultimately win a new 519VX Ranger boat and a Chevy truck.
Spayd caught his bass flipping a jig on main-lake points.
Rounding out the top five boaters are CY Duvall of Corydon, Ind. (four bass, 16-5, $2,507); Aaron Ault of Delphi, Ind. (five bass, 13-0, $1,670); Dick Shaffer of Rockford, Ohio (four bass, 12-10, $1,170) and Frank McClain of Scottsburg, Ind. (four bass, 11-0, $1,003).
Terry Dillon of Plainfield, Ind., took home the Boater Division Big Bass award, earning $765 for a 5-pound, 13-ounce bass.
Randy Medlin of Kettering, Ohio, earned $2,403 as the co-angler winner Saturday thanks to one bass weighing 7 pounds, 10 ounces.
Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Dennis Banik of Hammond, Ind. (two bass, 7-6, $1,201); Dan Robinson of Fairland, Ind. (two bass, 6-10, $806); Reginald Gibson of Indianapolis, Ind. (three bass, 6-8, $561) and Jeff Church of Fort Branch, Ind. (two bass, 6-7, $481).
Medlin also earned $362 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 7-pound, 10-ounce bass.
The Hoosier Division's next event will be June 23 on the Ohio River in Tell City, Ind., followed by the division's fourth event that will be held July 28 on the Ohio River in Tell City. The final event of the regular season will be a two-day Super Tournament held Sept. 8-9 on Patoka Lake in Jasper, Ind.
