JASPER, Texas (Oct. 2, 2006) - Boater Bradley Stringer of Huntington, Texas, earned 300 points and $6,638 Sunday as the winner of the Bass Fishing League Cowboy Division Super Bass Tournament on Lake Sam Rayburn.
Stringer's two-day winning catch of nine bass weighed 34 pounds, 9 ounces. He was throwing a topwater frog and a crankbait targeting wood and other structure in submerged grass beds.
Stringer also won the Boater Division Snickers Big Bass award with a 9-pound, 9-ounce bass that earned him an additional $952.
Rounding out the top five boaters are David Truax of Beaumont, Texas (nine bass, 29 pounds, 13 ounces, $3,319); Stephen Johnston of Hemphill, Texas (10 bass, 29 pounds, 10 ounces, $2,213); Cody Davis of Glen Rose, Texas (nine bass, 29 pounds, 6 ounces, $1,549); and Nicholas Albus of Trinity, Texas (10 bass, 28 pounds, 4 ounces, $1,328).
John Sparks of Houston, Texas, earned $3,319 as the co-angler winner thanks to seven bass weighing 27 pounds, 10 ounces.
Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Craig Strickland of Lumberton, Texas (nine bass, 22 pounds, 11 ounces, $1,660); Brian Shook of Beaumont, Texas (10 bass, 20 pounds, 15 ounces, $1,107); Tim Achee of Hemphill, Texas (six bass, 17 pounds, 14 ounces, $774) and Clint Bridges of Round Rock, Texas (seven bass, 17 pounds, 5 ounces, $664).
Jim Dillingham of Haltom City, Texas, earned $476 as the Co-Angler Division Snickers Big Bass winner with a 7-pound, 8-ounce bass.
The top 40 Cowboy Division boaters and co-anglers based on year-end points standings will now advance to the no-entry-fee Wright Patman Regional Championship near Texarkana, Texas, Oct. 19-21, where they will compete against Arkie, Louisiana and Okie anglers for a new Ranger boat and a Chevy truck in the Boater Division plus six slots in the no-entry-fee 2007 Wal-Mart BFL All-American.
