Arkansas is home to over 600,000 acres of lakes, streams, and other bodies of water, the majority of which are accessible by boat. The most important thing when it comes to boating on Arkansas’s waters is being a safe, responsible boater. Anyone born on or after January 1, 1986 must have a boating education certificate showing successful completion of a safe boating course to operate any motorboat, including personal water crafts. The Arkansas Game & Fish Commission provides many free boating courses every year.

This month, AGFC will be hosting a free boating education course at the Hope Regional Office in Perrytown, AR. It will be from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2022. Anyone is welcome to attend, whether it is legally required for them or not. There will be a certification exam at the end of the course. Any questions on how to sign up or the course itself can be emailed to Megan Humphrey.
