TULSA, Okla. – Gary Alldredge, part owner and spokesman for Eastaboga Tackle, credits Major League Fishing with creating an “exciting and environmentally responsible” bass fishing tournament format that he believes fishing fans across the country will embrace.
“The BogaGrip is the perfect tool for Major League Fishing, and we are delighted to have been involved early with what the league is doing,” Allredge said.
“It is rewarding for us to see these great anglers catch bass, weigh them on a BogaGrip, then return the fish back to their natural environment,” Allredge said. “We believe this format is great for the sport, and we hope it’s going to be around for a long time.”
Major League Fishing’s first event, the Challenge Cup, was filmed in November on Lake Amistad. The league employs an “immediate catch and release” system, where anglers use a BogaGrip to weigh each legal bass they catch while on the water. The weight from the BogaGrip is recorded by a boat official, and the bass are then returned to the water.
“It’s a fantastic system. The whole process is done in something like 15 seconds. The BogaGrips work beautifully,” said Major League Fishing angler Gary Klein.
BogaGrip joins a list of Major League Fishing sponsors that includes: Bass Pro Shops/Nitro, GEICO, Busch Beer, OPTIMA Batteries, Mercury/Motorguide, Quantum, BassCat, Lowrance and Advantage Baits.
