TULSA, Okla. (Feb. 2, 2009) - Zebco Brands announces that veteran bass anglers Greg Hackney and Mike Wurm have been signed as new pro staff members for the company's Cajun Line brand. The two tournament pros will be fishing Cajun's red monofilament lines and braid, and the recently introduced clear fluorocarbon.
"Getting Greg and Mike onboard to promote Cajun Line is big news and symbolizes the emphasis we're putting behind this brand and the fishing line category," said James Therrell, Cajun Line product manager. "These anglers represent the same kind of integrity and get-it-done fortitude by which the Cajun brand was originally founded, and most importantly, they believe in the quality of these products as strongly as we do."
"I actually tested the fluorocarbon line on redfish because they're stronger and harder on line than bass," Hackney said. "I fished all day, caught 12 redfish ranging from 5-20 pounds and never had to re-tie and never broke the line. I have a lot of confidence knowing that my Quantum reels will be spooled with Cajun for the Bassmaster Classic."
Hackney hails from Gonzales, La., and has surpassed the million-dollar mark in bass tournament earnings. Wurm is from Hot Springs, Ark., and, like Hackney, fishes the BASS Elite Series. He has nearly three-quarter million dollars in career earnings to date.
Thousands of anglers are loyal to Cajun's red fishing lines, a color chosen as a result of testing under actual fishing conditions and supported by science. Red is the first color in the color spectrum to be absorbed as it penetrates into water's depths, making it the least visible of all.
"I did some thorough testing of the new fluorocarbon line at the recent PAA tournament on Lake Toho, and I was very impressed," said Wurm. "It casts extremely well, and after three days of testing, I saw no evidence of wear and never had to re-spool. I'm confident Cajun will make many bass anglers better fishermen."
