Alqueva's dam, one of the greatest paradise for black bass fishing in Europe, willonce again host the Classic Black Bass "Lands of the Great Lake" tournament September 16 - 18. This event is being organized both by the Portuguese Black Bass Fishing Association in Defense of Nature (APPA) and by EDIA/GESTALQUEVA enterprise.
After the success reached with the 2004 edition, this year's event is rising a great interest between foreign teams, that has just started to send their inscriptions.
Alqueva's dam, known as "the Great Lake" - the biggest dam in Europe - is considered by bass anglers as the most recent paradise for this modality. Considering the great number of catches in 2004 and already in 2005, it is expected a new record will be reached soon.
With high monetary prizes, Joso Miguel Costa, APPA's President said, "For sure there will be a mass participation of foreign teams, as the good results of 2004 ecoed in countries like Spain, Italy and France, something that has raised the interest of some teams that for sure will want to come and participate in this year's edition".
Last year, around 80 teams were present - "A number that makes this event the great competition of this kind being held in Portugal", said APPA's President.
