SPIRIT LAKE, IOWA - The patented and award winning planetary gear system, developed by the engineers at Abu Garcia, is now available in the new Ambassadeur PGS Series of baitcast reels.
The planetary gears, a pinion gear surrounded by three orbital gears and a large ring gear gives the reel a totally different cranking scheme. As a result, the cranking handle is inline with the spool. This handle placement allows for the Stamina drag system with oversized graphite impregnated Teflon drag washers and an easy to use oversized ribbed drag adjustment ring.
The shape of the PGS reel is a cross between a round reel and low profile shape and more comfortable to grip than any other baitcast reel. With the improved proprietary spool design the axle remains stationary with the spool free spinning. The results are smoother and longer casts even with light lures. Also featured are Instant Anti-Reverse, aluminum spool and an improved cover removal design.
Four PGS models are available including the 3600, 3600 Low Profile, 5600 and 5601 (left handed version).
