Michels Still Leads Everstart Series Bass Fishing Tournament on Lake Shasta

REDDING, Calf. (Jan. 14, 2011) – Jeff Michels of Lakehead, Calf., brought a five-bass limit weighing 16 pounds, 3 ounces to the scales on Friday for a two day total of 30 to take a commanding lead at the EverStart Series bass fishing tournament on Lake Shasta. Michels now holds a commanding 7 pound 14 ounce lead going into the final day of competition where only the top 10 advanced. Rounding out the top 10 pros are:

            2nd:       Rob Bass, Redding, Calif., 10 bass, 22-2

            3rd:        Richard Dobyns, Yuba City, Calif., nine bass, 20-15

            4th:        Young Yang, Los Angeles, Calif., 10 bass, 19-2

            5th:        Jason Milligan, Shasta Lake, Calif., 10 bass, 18-4

            6th:        Charley Almassey, Oakley, Calif., 10 bass, 17-7

            7th:        Ken Phillips, Antioch, Calif., 10 bass, 17-4

           8th:          Howard Hughes, Redding, Calif., nine bass, 17-1          

           9th:          Jim Hawkes, Apache Junction, Ariz., 10 bass, 17

           10th:        Cody Meyer, Grass Valley, Calif., 10 bass, 17

            Jeff Michels caught the big bass weighing 6-5 on the pro side to win $300.

          Bryant Smith of Castro Valley, Calif., leads the Co-angler Division with 10 bass weighing 18-3.
