The Piedmont Division of NC Held its Fourth bass fishing tournament of the 2006 season at Badin Lake on May 20th. 35 teams gathered at Open Door Baptist Church in Richfeild NC. On Friday night we enjoyed the message from Pastor Brian Burris and his guests. The meeting was very moving and we were blessed. Thanks goes out to Brian, because of you, 5 anglers rededicated their lives to Christ.
Saturday morning we were greeted with great conditions. The fish were biting and every team got to make the trip to the scales.
Fishing conditions were great as the bass were going into their post spawn mode. Paul Davis and Aaron Miles From Monroe NC were able the put 19.44 pounds in the boat to win their second tournament in a row. to secure the first Place win and $1008.00 in their wallet. They took over the rookies points championship lead with this catch. Rodney Cozart and Mark Benge of Rockwell NC was not far behind them with 19.42 pounds to grab second place and $568. Third went to James Allred and Charles Brickey with 17.34 pounds and 442 Dollars. Fourth place was won by Buzz Dunlap and Benny Blakefor the second tournament in a row from Mt Gilead NC with 16.30 pounds. The Fifth Place team of Ron and Greg Groce had with 15.76 pounds moving them into a solid 2nd place in the points championship race. Dave Snyder and Ed markham remain in the points championship lead. Big fish went to Jackie Franks and Bobby Steele with a big fish of the year of 5.82.
Our last and regional qualifier tournament this year will be at High Rock Lake on June 17th at the Tamarac Marina. This has Been a very close year and Several teams could be the 2006 champions, the points champions, and angler of the year.
Child Adult Champion Rookie team of the year and regional Qualifiers will be selected at High Rock at 3 pm June 17th.
