The 2006 North Carolina Directors Challenge State Championship Was Held On Lake Wylie On 3-10-07. Thirteen Teams who qualified for this bass fishing tournament in 2006 blasted of from southpoint landing at 6 am. Conditions were great for fishing other than the color of the water(RED). Every team was able to make the trip to the scales that were located at BASS Pro Shops in Concord NC. Host Hank Parker of Hank Parkers Outdoor Magazine was an excellent speaker and kept the crowd of about 300 entertained with his wit and knowledge.
Joie and Errol Duckett collected $500 from Dennis Gallimore and Central NC division by winning the Adult/Jr Brackett bringing over 12 pounds to the scales. Erroll whos Brother won the BASS Master Classic just this month, won the East Reginal at Lake Erie last October. The State Championship was won by Wayne Sharpe and Mac Morrison from Statesville NC and from the Foothills Division with 15 pounds, and Cllected $1000 from Rocky Socks. The top Director/Sponsor team was John Snincak from Fort Mills SC and from the the Central Division and Richard Jordon from Bass Pro Shops. The big Fish was won by Greg and Ron Groce from Winston Salem NC with a 4.46 lb. lunker and picked up a $250 check from Bass Pro Shops. Ron and Ronnie Moore from Archdale NC won a $100 gift card from Scion Toyota for (LAST PLACE). If I would have known I'd have thrown 4 of my fish BACK!
This was a temendous event with Hank giving his personal testimony and his excellent speaking skills. The crowd was awarded for showing up with tons of door prizes thrown out by the Carolina Starz Girls softball team and every boat was pulled to the stage by brand spanking new Toyota Tundras sponsored by Scion Toyota of Charlotte. Capt Rod Thomas was there to film the entire event and it will be out on CD soon.
