The Piedmont Division of NC held its third tournament of the 2006 season at Lake Tillery on April 22nd. 33 teams gathered at Anderson Grove Baptist Church of Albemarle NC (home of Kelly Pickler) On Friday night we enjoyed the message from Pastor Ron Homeycutt and music from Richard Alexander. The meeting was very moving and we were blessed. Thanks goes out to Anderson Grove, because of you, 2 anglers rededicated their lives to Christ.
Saturday morning we were greeted extreme conditions. After discussing the possiblity of cancelling the tournament we finally decided to blast off the anglers. It was a Wet day and some of the high winds destroyed some of our equipment but everyone was safe after the end of the day.
Fishing conditions were hard to figure out for most of the anglers. However, bedding bass seemed to be how the top teams caught their bass. Apparently Paul Davis and Aaron Miles From Monroe NC were able the put 18.32 pounds in the boat with a big fish of 5.24 to secure the first Place win and $1239.00 in their wallet. They took over the rookies points championship lead with this catch.
Edward Markham and Dave Snyder of Concord NC was not far behind them with 16.20 pounds to grab second place and $726.00 They will retain the points championship lead with this finish.
Third went to anglers Steve Singleton and Wyane Needham of Seagrove NC with 16.14 pounds and 444 Dollars. Fourth place was won by Buzz Dunlap and Benny Blake From Mt Gilead NC with 16.12 pounds. The Fifth Place team of Marty Nester and Kenneth Shumate from Mt Airy NC.
Our 4th tournament this year will be at Badin Lake on May 22nd.
