Tulsa, Okla.– GoFree – the provider of digital content and services and part of the Navico family of marine electronics brands including Lowrance, Simrad and B&G – announced today the renewal of its Insight Genesis™ College Cup. In its third year, the 2016 College Cup kicks off March 1 and continues through October 31, 2016. Anglers registered with the Bassmaster Collegiate Series or FLW College Fishing are eligible for the competition.
Contestants can win monthly prizes – including HDS-12 and HDS-7 Gen3 fishfinder/chartplotter models – by capturing and uploading the most acres of sonar recordings to the online Insight Genesis map-creation tool. The Lowrance fishfinder/chartplotter prizes will be awarded to first- and second-place individual monthly winners, respectively. This year’s overall individual winner will receive a $3,000 college scholarship.
All recordings must be completed with a Lowrance fishfinder/chartplotter. If participants do not have a fishfinder/chartplotter capable of recording sonar logs, Lowrance offers exclusive rebates of up to $1,000, and a loaner unit program in which college teams can receive up to three free Lowrance Elite-7 Ti chartplotters on loan for the 2016 Insight Genesis College Cup program year. Registered Insight Genesis College Cup anglers will receive free Premium access to Insight Genesis after uploading 100 acres to the program and be able to see vegetation and bottom hardness layers, as well as gain access to other premium features.
In addition to the acres challenge, Insight Genesis College Cup also offers a contingency program – Map & Win Rewards. This program allows college anglers the opportunity to win a new Lowrance HDS-12 Gen3 by winning a Bassmaster College Series or FLW College Fishing tournament after mapping at least 100 acres of the tournament waters with Insight Genesis. Insight Genesis is the cloud-based map creation technology from GoFree. Users can generate private maps from recorded sonar data or choose to share selected trips with the Insight Genesis Social Map community. To record a sonar log, users can activate the standard sonar-logging feature on a compatible chartplotter from Lowrance, Simrad or B&G and record all subsequent sonar data to an SD card. Once recorded, the sonar log file can be uploaded to the Insight Genesis cloud service via a PC or GoFree cloud-enabled multifunction display, where it is then converted into maps.
