GREER, S.C. (May 5, 2017)– The Powell Group and Fatsack Outdoors Inc. recently partnered with professional bass fisherman Hank Parker and several of his sponsors to bring anglers a new way to compete against each other in a digital space.
Fatsack declared its intention to host tournaments through a new feature within its mobile fishing app that gives anglers the chance to compete for prizes and bragging rights in late 2016. That initial event was a success and resulted in the creation of the Hank Parker Tournament Series. The Series ends May 30.
The top anglers in each weekly event have the chance to win prizes from Plano, SoftScience, Lew’s, YETI and Berkley. Prizes up for grabs include items like Plano’s A-Series Tackle Bag, SoftScience Fin 2.0 shoes, Hank Parker Signature Series Lew’s combos, YETI coolers and Berkley tackle packs.
For an angler’s catch to count it must be caught in a legal and sporting manner. Also, anglers must log catch details and post a picture of the fish in the Fatsack app. With a live leaderboard, contestants can always keep track of what places they are in at any given moment. It is free to download the app and participate in the events.
This type of event knocks down barriers that may keep anglers from fishing tournaments. Specific event dates, travel and lodging expenses, high entry fees and more are all non-issues when fishing in a Fatsack digital tournament. Anglers now have the ability to compete in a tournament atmosphere anywhere it is legal to fish during the event dates.
“I’m impressed with the app the guys at Fatsack created,” Parker said. “This is a really fun way to compete. You can fish on your own time and possibly win quality outdoor gear. The app is really easy to use even for a guy like me who did not grow up with cell phones.”
