The big news today was the convergence of the Hobie World Championship with the Daiwa Hobie Kayak Bream Series with the Grand Finalists arriving at Marlo today. It was a fairly low key day on the water with the anglers going on a navigation day, testing their sounders and getting a feel for the fishery.

That said their was no shortage of smack talk between the two groups of competitors during the briefing where the 110 strong crowd heard the event details, as well as receiving a run down of the Pro Angler 14s they will be pedalling.

There was also a demo of the Power-Pole micro anchors the yaks are fitted with which were a definite highlight for the Worlds competitors at Bemm River and got the Grand Finalists well excited.

The competition kicks off again tomorrow with the weather looking set to provide a repeat of today which was a cracker with a light north westerly breeze blowing through a sunny 20ºC.  But then this is Victoria which is know for having four seasons in one day.

The anglers will be heading out together at 7:00 am, aiming for some pretty heavy bags. 4kg for three bream is not uncommon in Marlo, however, they will have their work cut out for them and will be returning in four groups, 20 minutes apart in order to stagger the weigh ins for a competition of this size.
