BAKERSFIELD, Mo. (Jan. 10, 2011) - Jewel Bait Co. announces the addition of Bassmaster Elite Series angler Scott Rook to its pro staff. The Little Rock, Ark.-based angler is considered one of the top jig fishermen in the country and has a long list of successes over his fishing career that he is quick to attribute to Jewel products.
On the BASS trail alone, Rook has placed in a top 50 spot in 91 of the 146 tournaments he has entered over the past 13 years. Among them are six 3rd place finishes, four 2nd place checks and a win. He won the 2006 Bassmaster Legends tournament on the Arkansas River.
"Scott has dominated tournaments on the Arkansas River system for the past several years on Jewel products, and he's taken our baits and his skills all across the country to become one of bass fishing's million dollar winners," said Bryan Head, national sales manager for Jewel Bait. "He's a true expert with all of our jigs and we appreciate the way he shares his fishing knowledge with anglers of all ages, everywhere he goes."
"It's never been a secret in my case, I'm a river guy that relies heavily on my jig," Rook explained. "I've been using the Eakins 5/16 oz. finesse jig ever since it first came out, but more recently I've become big fans of the J Lock Flip 'N Jig and Jewel's Football Jigs. Football jigs have greatly enhanced my offshore, deep-water fishing the last couple of years. I'm also liking what I see in their new Hole Punch skirts and Swim It jigs, and I'm confident they'll play a role, too, in what I do best."
Rook will be heading soon to his 8th Bassmaster Classic, this one scheduled for the Louisiana Delta, Feb. 18 - 20, with weigh-ins being held each day in New Orleans. Rook joins fellow Jewel team members who have also qualified for the Classic, Jeff Kriet (Okla.) and Mike McClelland (Ark.).
"Louisiana's Delta is a great river system with hundreds of miles of fishing options," Rook said. "It fits my style of fishing extremely well and I can't wait to get down there and start tossing my jig into that wide variety of cover."
