Botts and Grice, from Abbeyville and Honeapath, South Carolina respectively, used a variety of baits including Flukes and other top water baits to coax their limit from Hartwell today.
Finishing second today was Barton Aiken and Mark Rodney from Greenville. Aiken and Rodney brought 14.53 pounds of bass to the scales.
Jeff and Josie Sykes of Taylors, SC. were the highest finishing team with a child. The Sykes team brought 13.96 pounds to the scales including a 4.60 pound bass. The younger Sykes is 11 years of age. Team Sykes received $200 cash.
Mark and Laura Gober were the highest finishing team with a female member. The Gober’s caught 14.34 pounds of bass from Hartwell earning them $200 cash. A local mom and son team, Brandon and Amy Cobb from Greenwood, SC. had 12.57 pounds of bass for the day, following closely behind the Gober’s.
The big bass of the day came from the team of Jim Smith and Aaron Crompton of Bowersville, GA. as they brought a 5.31 pound bass to the scales.
31 boats participated in the 2011 LBAA Lake Hartwell Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club Charity Tournament.
Proceeds from the day’s tournament along with a post tournament raffle raised $2.671 for the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club of Anderson.
“I’ve been with them (Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club) for a short time and my heart grows bigger and bigger every day for these kids,” stated Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club spokesperson Lauren Von Ins. “What’s been done today has increased the chances of more boys and girls from this community being helped.”
