(Garland, TX) – Leslie Anderson, a veteran angler from St. Louis, Missouri coaxed a five bass limit weighing in at 13.72 pounds from Lake Ray Hubbard’s murky waters to take the day one lead of the 2012 Lady Bass Anglers Association (LBAA) Lake Ray Hubbard bass fishing tournament.

Although Anderson got her five bass limit for the day she said it was not easy by any stretch of the imagination. “The lake is fishing small and I feel the lake has about four patterns going on it right now,” Anderson stated.

“It took me a couple of hours just to get my first fish,” she went on to say. “I started out with a plan and that first fish made something click for me, and I changed up my plan a bit, tweaked a couple things and it started happening.”

Weather today was cool, overcast and light right. Tomorrow is another story altogether, as it will be sunny, hot, no wind, and a high around 81. “I don’t know if what I’m doing will hold up tomorrow,” Anderson continued, “You have to just to pick one of the patterns and hope for the best.”

Following Anderson in second was Helen Gordon with five bass weighing in at 12 pounds. Gordon was followed in third by Kim Bain-Moore who also had five fish but Bain-Moore’s bass weighed in at 11.31 pounds. Fourth and fifth respectively were Robbie Hartline and Martha Goodfellow with 11.11 and 10.30. Finishing out the Pro Super Seven were Pam Ridgle sixth with 10.11 and Debbie Warner who brought 9.82 pounds of bass to the scales.

The day one big bass weighing in at 6.83 pounds anchored Hartline’s fourth place finish. “I’m catching them shallow, fishing slow,” Hartline quipped. “There are a lot of fish on the move here at Ray Hubbard.”

On the co-angler side there is a potential hometown girl does good story in the making as Garland, Texas resident Jodi Galloway leads the co-anglers after day one of competition. Galloway brought a three bass limit to the scales that weighed 7.18 pounds.

“I caught fish all day on an 8” Blue Fleck Lake Fork Tackle ribbon tail worm,” Galloway said. “I bounced it off rocks as shallow as I could get it all day. I had four bites and had three keepers. I got lucky today.”

Second place on the co-angler side belongs to Diana Uebelhack who is a mere .09 ounces behind Galloway at 7.09. However, Uebelhack had her own brand of excitement today. Seems she caught what might be a lake record Kentucky spotted bass since there had not been a record Kentucky spotted bass established previously. Her 1.67-pound spot is in the process of being certified.

Third place belongs to Alisha Johnson who had three fish that weighed 5.99. In fourth place is Cindy Strong with 4.18. Fifth, sixth, and seventh respectively belong to Cassie Hall at 2.71, Kim Giddens at 2.56, and Bonnie Ward at 1.70.
