FOND DU LAC, Wis. - Since Mercury introduced the Pro XS engine five years ago, boaters have continually asked for the family to be extended. The performance characteristics of the Pro XS are now offered in a 150 horsepower tournament-ready package. Boaters expect improved torque, better top-end speed and the fuel efficiency from a Mercury Pro XS, and Mercury claims the 150 power plant delivers.

In testing, the 150 Pro XS was compared to the competitors' high output 150, the Pro XS is 4.5 mph faster at top speed. Compared to the standard 150 OptiMax, the 150 Pro XS deliver 2.6 more mph on top speed while delivering a hole shot associated with all Pro XS engines.

The improved performance does not sacrifice fuel economy, says Mercury. At cruise speed, the Pro XS provides 15 percent better fuel economy, saving boaters big bucks at the fuel pump.

Available in a 20- or 25-inch shaft, the 150 Pro XS is designed for bass boats, deep vee aluminum fishing boats, bay boats, and pontoons and deck boats 19 feet and longer.

A 60-amp alternator provides enough power for GPS and fish finders, keep the livewells percolating and even have a little left over to play a few tunes.

Additional information about the new 150 Pro XS is available from any Mercury Outboard dealer or at www.mercurymarine.com.
