OND DU LAC, Wis. - August 5, 2004 - MotorGuide is conducting a Federal Boat Safety Act Recall of its Max Pro II and Max Pro III battery chargers sold since 1998 due to potential overheating problems, MotorGuide parent company Mercury Marine said in a release yesterday afternoon.
Should the battery chargers overheat, a fire or fire hazard that could result in property damage, personal injury or death could result, Mercury said.
The company warned owners to "immediately discontinue use of your MotorGuide Max Pro II or Max Pro III Battery Charger and return it along with the MotorGuide Remote Indicator, if so equipped, to your nearest authorized Mercury Marine Dealer for a free replacement unit."
Mercury also said that its dealers can assist boaters in removing their battery chargers and remote indicators from their vessels and installing the new unit at no expense to the consumers.
