Mercury's high-performance, direct-injection OptiMax ProXS range has been expanded with the introduction of the 115 Pro XS and 200 Pro XS models.
OptiMax Pro XS outboards build on the standard OptiMax engine, but with even greater durability and power, according to Mercury.
"There are a number of boats on the water with a maximum rating of 115hp and the new OptiMax 115 Pro XS will let these owners get the absolute best out of their craft," said Nicholas Webb, Mercury's Director of Outboard Product - Australia, New Zealand, Pacific.
"Competitive fishers, for example, who want to get every advantage they can get, are going to love the 200 Pro XS."
OptiMax Pro XS outboards claim improved "hole shot" and acceleration, better cruising speed with heavier loads, and increased top end speed.
A higher wide-open-throttle RPM operating range means OptiMax Pro XS outboards give owners more propeller options to maximize the performance of their boat, and the engines' carbon fibre reeds produce improved performance and efficiency because of their superior durability and responsiveness.
OptiMax outboards claim to deliver superior fuel economy. OptiMax Pro XS engines go even further with their exclusive dome-shaped pistons directing the fuel/air charge onto the spark plug for even more efficient fuel usage.
"These engines are nice and light too - 170 and 229 kilograms respectively - which only adds to their superior performance characteristics," Nicholas said.
Both engines are compatible with Mercury's unique Big Tiller which has integrated shift, trim and throttle controls to make handling an engine so much easier, and each has a fully regulated 60 amp alternator which is belt-driven to reduce heat build-up.
With both engines boasting Mercury's latest SmartCraft technology, owners will have a fully integrated engine management system which delivers precise information and total control.
The 115 Pro XS and 200 Pro XS models are both backed by Mercury's exclusive 3+2 (5 year) warranty for recreational use.
