STURTEVANT, Wis., Oct. 28, 2002 - Bombardier Recreational Products announced it will continue to offer Evinrude and Johnson Genuine Parts & Accessories (P&A) sales and marketing initiatives designed specifically to reward and attract new customers in the United States market.

"We are going to continue offering programs like those that have proven to be successful over the past year," said Tom Walley, Sales and Marketing Manager, Evinrude and Johnson Genuine Parts & Accessories. "Our goal is to support our dealers and their customers with the best parts and accessories values possible, and also with programs that stimulate and increase interaction between the customer and our dealer."

A key P&A initiative that will continue for 2003 is the Engine Checks? promotion. Designed to encourage consumers to purchase and use Evinrude and Johnson Genuine Parts & Accessories products, Engine Checks directly rewards the consumer for P&A purchases. The customer completes a point-of-purchase form following the purchase of qualifying P&A products and submits the completed form to Bombardier. The customer then receives an Engine Check coupon from Bombardier made out for a dollar value that is based on the total amount of the original purchase, which can be used toward a subsequent purchase of P&A products. For example, a $50 purchase will net the consumer a $10 check.

The Engine Checks program will be offered through July 2003. An aggressive advertising campaign, product-specific direct mail materials, as well as in-store point-of-purchase materials, including banners, table tents and shelf-danglers, will support the program.

"Another big success for us has been our marine accessories catalog program," Walley said. "We researched all of the new products offered through P&A that can be attractive to have in dealer showrooms - items like boat covers, bilge pumps, trailering accessories, compasses - anything that can help customers complete the rigging process or maintain their boat."

The result has been the development of a high-quality catalog that dealers can use to help sell selected boating accessories. It will also provide information customers need to make the right purchase decision when selecting boating accessories.

"Our new catalog will be a valued resource for our dealers who want to offer one-stop shopping as a service to their customers," Walley added.

Another continuing program is the Nautic Pro® program, which enables Evinrude and Johnson dealers to sell service parts for competitive marine engines. The Nautic Pro line will support dealers by offering hundreds of parts. This will enable Bombardier to serve as a dealer's single-source for repair parts needed to service competitive brand outboards and stern drives.

According to Walley, for 2003, Bombardier is also targeting the "do-it-yourself" (DIY) consumer through two promotions. The first is a Stow Away Kit promotion that features a handy kit that includes several basic maintenance items required for preparing Evinrude or Johnson outboard engines for storage, such as engine fog, to combat rust; gearcase lubrication; and a fuel stabilizer. The second is a Tune-up Kit promotion that features a kit comprised of the required necessities for tuning up an engine to achieve optimal performance. These promotional kits will be offered in dealer showrooms, as well as boat show promotions for dealers to help them increase retail sales activity in their booths during the show.

Bombardier has placed a heavier emphasis on merchandising programs for 2003, which highlight and showcase products that enhance the boat-owning experience at the retail level.

"We received extremely positive feedback from dealers and consumers regarding the Evinrude and Johnson Genuine Parts & Accessories marketing and sales initiatives introduced in 2002," said Walley.
