FLIPPIN (February 28, 2008) Following one of the most successful tournament years for Ranger owners in 2007, Ranger is proud to announce the winners of "The Ranger Cup," a contingency program designed to reward Ranger owners for their success on the water and their continued loyalty to Ranger Boats.
"The Ranger Cup" awards are given to the Top 10 finishers in the point standings for bass anglers fishing either the FLW Tour or FLW Series. In all, $226,000 in Ranger Cup plus Evinrude and Yamaha contingency money is being awarded, making this year's "The Ranger Cup" payout one of the most profitable ever. The announcement also brings the total amount awarded to Ranger owners through the Ranger Cup program and Ranger Owner Bonuses well over a staggering 10 million dollars - an accomplishment no other angler contingency program can match.
For his efforts on the FLW Series West, former Forrest Wood Cup Champion Brent Ehrler takes first place in this year's awards, claiming $50,000 in Ranger Cup money. Ehrler finished with a pair of Top-10 finishes in the FLW Western Series' four-event regular season, followed by a Top-10 finish at the FLW Series East-West fish-off. Ehrler compiled 191 points to edge second-place finisher Andre Moore by nine points in the final standings.
Ehrler, from Redlands, Calif., is one of four Californians to finish in the Top 10, joined by third-place finisher Clayton Meyer, fourth-place finisher Michael Bennett and sixth-place finisher Gabe Bolivar.
"Our customers are central to everything we do at Ranger and the Ranger Cup program is another way we can reward Ranger owners for their tournament successes and thank them for their loyalty to Ranger Boats," said Ranger Boats President, Randy Hopper. "We're proud of this group of anglers and all of the anglers around the country that compete out of Ranger boats. You'll not find a more accomplished group of anglers than Ranger owners; they're anglers who are ambassadors for the sport and who do an outstanding job of representing the values of our company."
The Ranger Cup program awards points to anglers who compete out of Ranger boats during qualifying tournaments. A maximum of 50 points is given to Ranger owners for a first-place finish and are decreased by one point for each finishing position. To qualify for the Ranger Cup program, anglers must register and fish from a Ranger boat during all qualifying tournaments, meet clothing requirements and properly display the Ranger Cup decal on their boat.
