Upper Saddle River, NJ- Triangle Sport has been launched as the exclusive distributor and marketer of Cyclone Linewinders; it was announced here today by Michael Maddalena, Managing Partner of the new company.

To help enhance and extend the product line, Triangle Sport has already signed top-ranked Elite Pro Bass fishermen Lee Bailey, Jr. and Byron Velvick as technical experts and consultants.

"The experience and insight of Lee and Byron will be invaluable as we move forward," Maddalena said. "We're excited they're on board with us."

The fishing line winders will continue to be made in the USA by Triangle Manufacturing in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey, as they have been for the past 30 years. Neal Strohmeyer, President of Triangle Manufacturing, will become a partner in Triangle Sport. "Neal and his sister, Diane Hurley have a great relationship with our current customer base. We want that to continue with the new entity," Maddalena noted.

"Triangle's line winders, have long been regarded as the top choice of leading line manufacturers, tackle dealers and avid fishermen around the world, and we believe we can make the products even better by focusing on refinements and new product development," Maddalena said.

Case in point is the new Cyclone Pro, which is being introduced as part of the repositioning of the entire line of line winders under the Cyclone brand name. The new Cyclone Pro incorporates a bracket that holds the rod, eliminating the need to remove the reel from the rod during stripping and spooling. "It seems like a small thing, but it's a huge improvement," noted the Triangle Managing Partner.

"With the engineering expertise and advanced manufacturing skills of Triangle Manufacturing at our fingertips, we are also well-positioned to expand into other areas of the fishing tackle business," he continued. He noted that the New Jersey based manufacturing facility has state-of-the-art design and manufacturing capabilities for everything from surgical implants and medical instruments to commercial products.

"We have the know-how and the experience to make innovative and reliable equipment. The only thing lacking was marketing expertise. We've got that now with the formation of Triangle Sport," Strohmeyer said.

"We can bring the same smart people, exotic and lightweight materials, precision manufacturing capabilities and problem-solving mindset to bear for Triangle Sport," Maddalena said.

Triangle Sport also intends to establish joint marketing relationships with other companies, such as rod and reel, boat, lures and scents, clothing and safety device manufacturers. In addition, the company plans to market the line winders aggressively to luxury and sport fishing boat owners and builders.

"We believe that guides and big game sportsmen with a million plus invested in their boat and electronics should have a state-of-the-art line winding station on board," Maddalena noted. "Losing a fish because your equipment isn't ready and rigged properly can ruin your day and your clients."

Maddalena brings to Triangle Sport 18 years of experience in marketing and sports marketing. He was the former director of sports marketing, sales promotion, and special events for Volvo Cars of North America.

Neal Strohmeyer's father founded Triangle Manufacturing in 1955 and he has run the family business since the 1980s, growing it to a $24 million industry leader.

The Cyclone line of line winders includes the LD 100 (formerly Ospreywinder), HD 140, SC 125, and the new Cyclone Pro.
