When each lady professional bass angler challenges Lake Eufaula to best 32 other professionals for the title of Women's Professional Bass Fishing Classic World Championship, fireworks will light up the sky and the bands will play.

    Spectators will find that the Classic Championship scheduled on Lake Eufaula will be a memorable event. It is being hosted by the state of Alabama and the Eufaula/Barbour County Chamber of Commerce. All activities are being conducted at the Lake Point Resort and are open to the public.

    The 3-day tournament will be introduced by 4 days of activities that will include working with crippled children, honoring Alabama citizens, presentations of the Rookie of the Year and Amateur of the Year Awards, and some intense practice by the contenders. The lady anglers will launch for the start of the tournament with a dynamic fireworks display and a salute to veterans.

    The final weigh-in on Sunday will be emceed by Sammy Lee, host of the "Tight Lines" radio show and will include a free concert presented by the Worlds Greatest Fishing Band. Many will remember them as the Dorados. They performed at the BASS Championship and definitely established themselves with the outdoor crowd.

    Additionally, a free rod and reel will be given to the first 80 children who arrive. The show will start at 2:00 and is free to the public. After the weigh-in, spectators may visit with the pros for advice, photos, and autographs.

    On November 10, the tournament officials and the lady anglers will host a CAST for Kids program. The Catch A Special Thrill day allows each lady angler the opportunity to provide a morning of fishing for designated youngsters.

    Tuesday evening, the Rookie of the Year and Amateur of the Year Awards Banquet will be held at the Lake Point Marina. The 2002 award recipients will be announced and awards will be presented.

    On Wednesday, November 13, a VIP Tournament for Charity will be conducted. The championship qualifiers will be paired with an invited guest for some light competition. The VIP winner will name a charity that will receive $500.00.

    The ladies will compete on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Each will be attempting to bring in the heaviest daily bag limits and the biggest bass of the tournament. The winner will claim the Champion of Women's Bass Fishing title and will pull home a 2003 Triton TR19 bass boat, equipped with a 150 Mercury, Minn Kota, trolling motor, Hummingbird Electronics, and Dekka batteries.

    Tournament Director Willie Cook stated, "All weigh-ins are dynamic spectator events. But, this one will be special with the show by the Worlds Greatest Fishing Band, the rod and reels for the kids, and a special guest emcee."
