KENNESAW, Ga., April 26, 2006 - As part of a continuing effort to expand its line of rigging components and parts, Yamaha Marine Group this week introduces the Reliance multi-purpose polished propeller and the mini-10 ten-micron filter/water separator, both of which are designed to fulfill the emerging needs of Yamaha boat builders, dealers and customers.

"We want to provide a full line of rigging components to our boat builder partners, and these new products are a great addition to the PowerMatched line," said David Meeler, Yamaha Technical Marketing. "At the same time, the new propeller and filter/separator are perfect for boaters looking to upgrade the performance of their current boat or increase their security on the water."

Yamaha's new mini-10 ten-micron filter, designed specifically for boats using 115 horsepower or smaller outboards, will hit the market just in time to meet a growing challenge for both boat builders and boaters: fuel contamination.

As of this spring, most energy companies will switch to ethanol -- in place of MTBE -- as the additive used to oxygenate gasoline. While more friendly to the environment that MTBE, ethanol attracts and absorbs moisture from the air, and it's a solvent.

"Boaters will face more fuel contamination as a result," said Meeler, "both from water absorbed through their fuel tank vents and from dissolved varnish in their fuel systems."

Yamaha's mini-10 filter is a primary defense against water and other contamination. (The mini-10 joins Yamaha's Ten Micron filter, which is designed for use on boats with outboards larger than 115hp.)

Also new for this season is the Reliance propeller. Intended primarily for use with Yamaha's F150 engine, it will provide excellent all-around performance in applications for outboards up to 300 horsepower.

Reliance is faster at all rpm ranges and has better anti-ventilation characteristics (that is, better grip) than Yamaha's Black Steel propellers. Made of highly-polished stainless steel, it provides the same excellent corrosion resistance as Yamaha's proven V-MAX line of propellers. It is available in pitches from 15" to 21" in right-hand rotation. Left-hand rotation is available in pitches 17" to 21". The CAD-designed Reliance joins Yamaha's SaltwaterSeries II propeller.
