Alan McGuckin/Dynamic Sponsorships

Alan McGuckin

Alan McGuckin grew up on the Ohio-Pennsylvania border. The rest of his life has been shaped around a critically meaningful piece of advice his dad gave him as a teen while fishing on the Ohio River as a teen – “I don’t care what you do for a living, just promise me you’ll do something you love.”

“Guck” -- as most folks call him -- will be quick to tell you how blessed he feels each day to have worked on the inside of the sport he loves for more than 25 years, living-out his dad’s best wisdom.

He earned a Master's degree in fisheries and zoology from the University of Oklahoma in 1995 and has made a living in the fishing industry as a marketing and PR professional in the Tulsa area for nearly three decades.

He began his career at Lowrance Electronics, then worked ten treasured years at Terminator Lures before landing at Dynamic Sponsorships, the fishing industry’s leading full-service marketing and promotions agency with clients such as Toyota, Carhartt, Yamaha, and Zebco.

Guck’s primary role at Dynamic is that of a PR professional and content generator, where he’s known for taking bass fishing fans inside the huddle and into the lives of the world’s most adored anglers he calls close friends.

Anglers such as Kevin VanDam, Gerald Swindle, Mike Iaconelli, Matt Lee, Terry Scroggins, Matt Arey, Chris Zaldain, Casey Ashley, Brandon Lester, Cody Huff, Caleb Sumrall, and Jordan Lee have been the topic of more than 500 published short stories “Guck” has penned for Bassmaster.com, not to mention hundreds more for sites such as Anglers Channel, Bass Fan, Bass365, BassResource, Michiana Outdoors, Bass Zone, and Major League Fishing.

He spends roughly 100 nights a year away from the home and friends he loves dearly at Lake Skiatook, OK, while covering the pros mentioned above and all things related to Dynamic Sponsorships’ clients and their events within the outdoor industry.

“Guck” is a voting committee member of the Bass Fishing Hall of Fame and a Board of Directors member for Keep the Tennessee River Beautiful.

Once a competitor in Red Man, BFL, Oklahoma Federation, and numerous high-level team trails, his busy career only allows for fun fishing avidly each weekend with his best friend Beau throughout Eastern Oklahoma.

When not working or fishing, you can count on finding him taking a deep dive into country music lyrics or placing his toes in the sand near a favorite patch of water. Find him on Instagram @GuckFishing.
