For the last three years, I have tested tackle with the sole quest of finding the right equipment for the Alabama rig. There are a ton of combinations to choose from.
Then, I fished with the Pinnacle Primmus Xi baitcasting reel and Pinnacle Tournament Class Perfecta DHC7-761 CAHFS rod. The search for the perfect setup was done. The reel weighs in at 5.8 ounces and is a perfect match for the rod, which is made for heavy flipping and pitching. It was designed by Pinnacle anglers Dave Wolak, John Crews, and Britt Meyers.

DHC is code for a process that layers high-modulus graphite wrapped in the opposite direction around layers of high-density carbon. The strength of this formula results in recommended lure weights of 1/2 ounce to 3 ounces.
The Tournament Class Perfecta is seven feet, six inches of heavy power, and fast action. Components include Fuji Titanium-SIC Tangle-Free K-Guides, Fuji ACS reel seats, and high-density EVA foam grips.
As for the Primmus Xi baitcasting reel, these are hand-tuned from the factory and good to go. Pinnacle also includes a free one-time factory tune-up, redeemable whenever you choose.

After tinkering with the brake settings, I found the reel easy to dial in. Spooled with a 30-pound test Tuf-Line Heavy Core, the duralumin spool is complemented by a titanium-coated line guide, enhancing casting distance and a smooth retrieve.
Technology is sometimes overwhelming, so the X-Bone frame creates a remarkably solid feel in simple terms. This, combined with ten double-shielded stainless steel ball bearings plus a roller bearing, perform like a match made in heaven!
I think the DHC7 and Primmus Xi combination raises the bar for situations where power and performance are needed. The balance creates the illusion of weightlessness that will surprise the most demanding anglers searching for the perfect combination. A work of art is how I describe the rod and reel when combined. Deep red accent adds just enough bling to be noticed.
I do not fish a lot of heavy vegetation, but this is your rig for those who do! I expect this rod and reel package to become my one-and-only for the Alabama Rig. This weekend I will be fishing primarily for stripers on the Tennessee River. I am looking for a 30-pound fish to put the rod and reel through its paces!
