Those of you who have read the reviews posted by my fellow moderators now understand that Pinnacle has developed an outstanding line of Tournament Class rods and reels. The Perfecta rods, mainly the Primmus baitcast reel, have now been added to the arsenals of all BassResource.com moderators. This is unnecessary because we are all great anglers but because Pinnacle equipment is good.
I was asked to review the Perfecta DHC7-7101CAMHCB rod, paired with a Primmus PR10Xi reel. What can I state that has not already been conveyed? The other moderators previously accurately highlighted the attributes of Pinnacle products. It’s not just the BassResource.com family giving high marks. A simple Internet search reveals numerous anglers are just as impressed as we are.
So, without further ado, here are my brief reviews.
The Perfecta DHC-7 –7101CAMHCB Rod
Pinnacle touts this 7’ 10” rod as designed for deep cranking. The rod excels at this task. Unfortunately, I have arthritic hands, so I don’t last very long when deep cranking. On the other hand, I found the rod and reel combo can zing a 3/8 ounce Rat-L-Trap a country mile. The rod has the sensitivity to detect a subtle bite on a Trap in 14 feet of water. Also, I love the split-grips, and I like the placement of the hook keeper behind the reel at the split-grip. Is it now a permanent piece in my arsenal? Without a doubt.
A few words from Pinnacle:
“The new Pinnacle Perfecta DHC7 Tournament Class Casting Rods were designed by Pinnacle pro staffers Dave Wolak, John Crews, and Britt Myers to complement their fishing styles. Offering technique-specific performance worthy of tour level fishing, each model represents a pro’s ‘personal dream stick’ for a given technique. The newly refined, handcrafted, double helix, high modulus blanks offer extraordinary lightweight sensitivity and strength with the precisely tuned actions serious tournament anglers need.
“Fuji Titanium-SIC Tangle-Free K-Guides also facilitate smooth line flow during casts and retrieves, and the low-profile Fuji ACS reel seats help reduce weight while forming a solid, comfortable base for your reel. Split grip handles with high-density EVA foam grips only add to the comfort and weight savings while balancing out each rod perfectly. Pro-designed and pro-tested, the Pinnacle Perfecta DHC7 Tournament Class Casting Rods have what it takes to elevate any angler's performance.”
The Primmus PR10Xi Reel
So much has been said about this beauty that anything I say will be redundant. The reel is light as a feather and strong as a bull. It is beautiful, especially when matched with the DHC7 rod. Is the reel now a permanent piece in my arsenal? You bet.
Again, here are a few words from Pinnacle:
“Pinnacle continues its single-minded pursuit of perfection with the new super lightweight Pinnacle Primmus Xi HS Hand-Tuned Casting Reel. Weighing in at only 5.8-ounces, the Primmus Xi allows you to fish longer and stronger with less fatigue. It also balances perfectly with today’s lightweight bass rods for superior sensitivity at the point of attack.
“Built with advanced materials to maximize durability and eliminate excess weight, its powerful X-Bone 2.0 metal frame and lightweight REF carbon fiber side covers keep all Primmus Xi’s inner workings in perfect alignment. Both the spool and drive train are made of extra-light Duralumin alloy. Though costly, it keeps the weight low without sacrificing strength. The Primmus Xi also marks Pinnacle’s return to traditional 6-pin centrifugal cast control for optimum handling when using lighter baits. Lightweight, smooth and powerful, the Pinnacle Primmus Xi is also factory hand-tuned to ensure optimum performance wherever the tournament trail takes you.”
