Z-Man Baits Fishing Lures

Glenn 1: Hey folks, here we are at the 2015 ICAST show. I'm Glenn with Glenn at the Z-Man booth, checking out the brand new stuff coming out with Z-Man. Glenn, you've got a few things to show us. What you got here?

Glenn 2: Well, we'll start with the EZ Tube and one of the reasons we call it the Easy Tube is just because of the thin walls and the fact that it's made from elastic, it's very easy to rig. And the other thing we like about this tube is that we we're able to design it so that the tentacles actually separate really well in the water, because they're perfectly rounded which means they can't grab onto each other or stick to each other. They're completely round tentacles, so when they go into the water they immediately just separate and start to move. And because it's so soft, the nice thing with the elastic is that softness allows this thing to breathe and move in the water with very little effort on your part at all, and you don't have to worry about anybody pecking the little tentacles off either.

Glenn 1: I like that.

Glenn 2: And also because of the buoyancy, when you put it in the water it's going to stand straight up. So it's a tube that's going to get noticed, it's going to have action which means you don't have to work as hard as an angler to make this thing work for you. It's going to do a lot of work on its own.

Glenn 1: Nice, nice.

Glenn 2: We're very excited about this. It's something we've been working on for a while now.

Glenn 1: I know a lot of people are really excited about that. When I heard the tube was coming out, you should have heard the chatter on our forums. They were like, "Z-Man's coming out with a tube!" and I'm excited to see this. I can't wait for it. When is that going to come out?

Glenn 2: Actually we should have this ready here next month.

Glenn 1: Oh fantastic. All right.

Glenn 2: It should be ready by August. We've been working on production and trying to get everything ready to go for it, so it should be down here pretty quick.

Glenn 1: Fantastic, okay what else do you got for us?

Glenn 2: So that's these guys, the EZ Tube.

Glenn 1: EZ Tube?

Glenn 2: The EZ Tube.

Glenn 1: All right.

Glenn 2: The other thing that we came out with this year was a bait called the Razor Shadz and the Razor Shadz we came out with because a lot of people are taking the skirts off their chatter baits or putting a swim bait trailer on there, and sometimes it's not ours, not our brand, so we decided we'd like to fix that and offer them one that offers that same type of shape and action they'd be getting, but a little bit better because we can make it out of ElaZtech.

So what we did is we created a bait called the Razor Shadz and this little guy here has a segmented body so that it moves really well in the water so when you put this on a chatter bait, you're going to get a lot more action behind it and also that thick body helps fill in the profile underneath that skirt, or if you take the skirt off you'll still have a big, thick Shad body profile underneath there. That's important. The other thing with this, we put a belly slide in there for easy rigging and there's a hook slide on the back, so if you want to Texas rig this and fish it as a weedless jerk bait it's very good at that too.

Glenn 1: Nice, and of course it floats because it's ElaZtech.

Glenn 2: It's 100% buoyant, so if you do want to fish it unweighted, that sloped head on there and that flat planing surface will allow it to dive also on a retrieve. So you can fish unweighted and throw it shallow up in the grass, the sticks whatever and you could have it float there or dive it down a little bit and have it float back up. So there's a lot of things you can do with that. It's kind of a hybrid chatter bait trailer, jerk bait, swim bait, there's a lot of things you can do with a Razor Shadz.

Glenn 1: Very, very versatile.

Glenn 2: Very versatile bait. And one of the other things we came out with last year was a huge hit for us was the Five Inch Pop Shadz, a huge hit for us. We shipped a lot of those things, because people realized there's finally a top water bait out there you can keep completely weedless, throw it anywhere you want, and it has that perfect shad body profile. So we got a lot of calls to make a smaller one too, so this year we introduced the four inch version of the Pop Shadz.

Glenn 1: Nice.

Glenn 2: Still the same thing, still has a hook back to back here. This has a 3/0 G-lock. I have rigged into this one, so you can rig it up completely weedless, throw it anywhere you want, or for open water you can run this hook through cut it off, tie a treble hook on and put a treble hook out there for open water takes. So again, very, very versatile, top water bait with a nice little profile that anybody's going to come up and eat.

Glenn 1: And this will available also next month?

Glenn 2: Right now we're looking at probably September 1 to get this one down here.

Glenn 1: Close enough, six weeks.

Glenn 2: Yeah. We're looking at having done very soon though, but I have had the chance to play with it and throw it and it is very, very effective that much I can tell you.

Glenn 1: Yeah, I could see that going right across the weeds, right on the top.

Glenn 2: It's pretty handy because there aren't too many other top water baits you can do that with you know, but because of the buoyancy of ElaZtech and the durability of it, it allows us to make baits that other people just can't make. And do things that you just can't do with a regular soft plastic lure and that's a really great example of it.

Glenn 1: And you just hit on it, the durability, these baits will last and last fish after fish, that makes them very cost effective.

Glenn 2: It does because you know like they're not going to tear apart here, they're not going to rip out like a lot of other soft plastic frogs and stuff do. This guy's going to stay on there for a while and you're going to be able to get a lot of use out of just one lure.
